The FOOD programme welcomes a new Italian partner: WHO Healthy Cities Network

At the start of this new year 2019, the FOOD programme is honored to welcome a new Italian member in its consortium of partners: “WHO Rete Città Sane” (WHO Healthy Cities Network). The Healthy Cities Network is a global movement initiated 30 years ago by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Agency dedicated to Health.

The approach seeks to put health high on the political and social agenda of cities and to build a strong movement for public health at the local level. The flagship cities of the WHO European Healthy Cities Network share a vision for urban health, in which they put people and their health and well-being at the centre of all their policies and actions. The Network aims at an improved collaboration between the member cities in order to innovate and share knowledge to achieve concrete change for the people and the planet.

This new partnership forecasts interesting projects for the FOOD Programme. Workshops will soon be organized with members of WHO Rete Città Sane to exchange on best practices related to healthy eating, and pursue common actions at the local level to foster healthier living conditions.
