FOOD awarded by the United Nations Task force on NCDs

On September 23rd, the Belgian Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment (SPF SP) received an award from the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases.

This award recognises the FOOD programme’s “outstanding contribution to achieving NCD-related Sustainable Development Goals”.

The FOOD programme was invited by the ILO to submit an application this spring. It was assessed by a high-level committee composed of the following UN agencies: International Labour Organisation (ILO), World Health Organisation (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and the World Food Programme (WFP).

The SPF SP, represented by its Ambassador, received the prize in the UN Building in New York, and the ceremony was held during the UN General Assembly High Level meeting.

It is a great recognition for the hard work all the partners have put in the programme over the last 10 years, achieved thanks to their continuous involvement.

It is also the first global award received!
